16. What should you do if you are an asymptomatic member of a FAD pedigree?
No need to panic. Being a family member of a FAD pedigree does not necessarily mean you will develop AD. FAD is an autosomal dominant inheritance disease. Offsprings of the mutation gene carriers have 50 percent taking causative mutation, meaning offsprings also have 50 percent not carrying causative mutation. So, if you families have at least two fist-degree relatives with AD, don't be panic, you should firstly consult doctor.
Conduct genetic test and take early intervention. If you are a family member of a FAD pedigree, you need to take genetic test, and if the test is positive, you need to follow doctor's advice and receive early intervention.
Develop future health plan. If the genetic test is positive, you need to develop future health plan. For instance, you can develop appropriate physical exercise program, learn computers, foreign languages, poetry and painting.
